Aquinas applies the Ockhams razor theory to his argument proving that the simplest explanation is the correct one. This would mean that the simplest explanation to the creation of the world would be God. He believed that this necessary being must be outside of the world, because the cause of something cannot be in the universe because there can be no relation to the determination.
