Implementing Evidence Based Practice for School Nurses
Chapter 1
Introduction
The aim of this project is to educate tutor nurses in the Shawnee Mission School District (SMSD) in the impact and murder of Evidence Based Practice (EBP).
Problem Statement
popular groom nurses within a predominantly Anglo-Saxon universe articulate a lack of understanding in the coating of EBP to their relatively small population of culturally diverse students. Although 64% of nurses have positive thoughts of EBP, in that respect are many barriers to the familiarity, use, and implementation of the EBP processes (Majid, Schubert, Luyt, Zhang, & Mokhtar, 2011). Traditional Bachelors degree programs do not offer formal education in EBP and enquiry, which play to the barriers noted. With an increasing population of children experiencing chronic health issues, harsh changes in our socioeconomic environment, and the increase in population of non-English speaking cultures, there is a stated need for additional educational tools for the school nurse.
Purpose Statement
The goal of this proposal is to increase the level of knowledge and understanding of EBP within the SMSD school nurses to enable them to implement this in their practice.
By providing the necessary tools, this goal will allow for the tractability of the school nurses to practice EBP in the manner appropriate for their circumstances. A multiple
choice and open-ended pre-test will be administered earlier to the presentation of the educational module with a comprehensive post-test to follow.
