In this paper, I will be comparing cardinal characters from The Help by Marian Keyes. The two characters that I sop up chosen are Skeeter Phelan and Aibileen Clark. These characters are from different life-styles, separated by race. The relay stationship between these two was highly unlikely and forbid in Mississippi back in the 1960s. Throughout the story, it was patent that these two characters were brought together to write a hold up that would cave in the life of the wetnurses and give a voice to the Black company in Jackson, MS and provide a boost to Skeeters journalism career.
Eugenia Phelan, nicknamed Skeeter, was a Caucasian twenty-three-year old college alumna who relocated back to her hometown of Jackson, MS upon graduating. Her family owns a profitable make that required hired maids. When Skeeter came back from college, the family maid and close friend of hers for over twenty days had been fired and Skeeters parents did non care to explain why. Skeeter frequently finds herself trying to win the compliment of her mother and her friends by looking and acting a sealed way and dating certain type of people.



At bingle point, Skeeter decides to pursue her career by compiling a book that details the inequality against African-Americans in the South by interviewing the maids that pull in in the homes of her friends and family. Skeeter soon goes against tradition and befriends a Black maid servant and together the two are able to lend together to write a compelling novel.
Aibileen Clark was a oculus aged African-American nanny and maid. She worked for Skeeters friend Elizabeth Leefolt. Aibileens only son was killed in a terrible misfortune at a job site and her husband had leftfield her to be with someone else when her son was only four years old. Aibileen was a very strong but nurturing character in the novel. In the beginning of the novel, Aibileen works quietly in the kitchen as the maid while her boss sits and has tea with her friends, including Skeeter.
