An Illinois valley Community College program recently received a $900,000 donation boost. IVCC administration officials on Monday announced the college has signed a union deal with MAG IAS, LLC, the largest machine tool manufacturer in the United States, and the Caterpillar-Aurora facility that allow in for upgrade the colleges car-mechanic program with two pieces of industrial equipment in exchange for oblation classes that will train Caterpillar and MAG employees. These classes contain 14 weeks of classroom and hands-on lab instruction and four weeks of machine- and tool-specific training, the introductory class of 10 employees will have 12 weeks of on-the-job training at Caterpillar-Aurora. MAGs donation will be a $300,000 vertical machining center that is to be set inside the currently-under-construction, Peter Miller Community Technology Center. A $600,000 horizontal machining center will be donated by Caterpillar within the next three years.

While the donations will allow both companies to use IVCC to upgrade the training of their employees, students in the colleges CNC program also will be given opportunities to acetify with the machines.
