Tim was looking forward to Sam’s stories about his experiences at college, his stories about how he got drunk with his friends and all the pretty girls he met. Tim was especially interested in Sams “Telling Points.”
What Sam unremarkably does after a fight with his father is run away. The about common place that Sam would go is to Tom Warrup’s place. Tom Warrup is a Native American, who is the son of the famous of import Chicken. Tom let’s Sam stay at his place overnight so that he doesn’t stir to go very far in the morning, to get home.
Sam irritates Tim by boasting about his uniform, and resists helping him with his chores; worried he might get his dress dirty. Tim hates it when his brother does this, and wants him to help him out. likewise Sam whines about the broken basket, which annoys Tim.
Sam reveals to Tim that he unfeignedly came home for the Brown Bess (Life’s gaseous state) to go to war at Wethersfield. The Brown Bess was the type of gun that many of the people had in Connecticut. It was brown, and got its name from Queen Elizabeth, whose nickname was Bess. So therefore since they utilise that type of gun a lot during her time, it was named the Brown Bess. The gun was very important to Tims dad.
