The lives to which we want to lead and the lives we live are unremarkably not the same. In the movie, The Hours, by Michael Cunningham, the characters of the film express their feelings towards the roles wad must play in society. The feelings that are being denotative are feelings that are mless; ambivalence and regret harry the women in the novel, stock-still though they do not of necessity lead lives that are made to be miserable, they are unsounded unhappy with their lives.
