Brown was born in Torrington Connecticut on may 9 1800. His father was Owen Brown who was a farmer. When legerdemain was four years old his father locomote his family to Hudson Ohio. in that location the boy became a farmer and a tanner. Johns father as well believed that slaving African Americans was wrong and he also was accused of forcibly freeing slaves in 1798. When Brown became older he showed no interest in bonding the militia and hed rather pay a fine then join the military. In 1820 Brown married Dianthe Lusk, they had seven children when they were together with from each one other. She suffered mental illness along with Johns mother and other relatives totally of which affected his sons later on in their life. Dianthe died in 1832 and at bottom a year he married Mary Anne twenty-four hours who he had 13 children with. She survived with him 25 years. Johns job was a communication channel man and he had ambitious plans. In 1825 he moved to Randolph then ten years later her returned to Ohio. In 1849 his clientele took him to Europe where he unsuccessfully tried to sell wool. In Pennsylvania he had a concealed room for concealing fugitive slaves. Then john moved his family to North Elba , bare-assed York, a negro community established by Gerrit Smith. In 1851 John was back in Ohio still struggling.
In 1851 in Springfield Massachusetts, the same year Brown gave time to jock negros organize a league of Gileadites to aid fugitive slaves .
